AJ Residenco

AJ House is a Private Residence, located in the suburban area of Vientiane. The surrounding communities are quiet and peaceful which makes it a perfect area for this residential project. In addition, this plot of land is located on higher-ground level at the end of a blind alley, where to some degrees, we are able to observe a natural landscape view. The total area is about 762 m2, but with the kindness of the landlord, some plots of land were given to the community as public transportation pathways.

This house was designed to become a relaxing place that provides an extraordinary experience to the owners, where they would not feel as if they were trapped in a 4-cornered room. Instead, they would find the entire house to be boundaryless while at the same time, they would also be able to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere within their surroundings.
In our plan, we have located the house at the back part of the land, facing East direction. It is a 2 storey house and we have designed it in a way that, the 1st storey is dedicated to a living area/welcome area, dining area, kitchen, toilets and lastly, the guestrooms. As for the 2nd storey, we have dedicated the area for the owners themselves, such as their bedrooms and W.I.C (Walk-in Closet) with attached bathroom.
To enhance the idea of an open space interior, a minimalist-looking “floating staircase” has been used to connect two different levels of the house together. Furthermore, we have also created a double volume space in the living room so that it can be seen directly from the Master Bedroom.

Apart from designing this house under an “opened” concept (which is to link all of the spaces together), we have also given some attention to detail on the facade, by using 4 full-height glass window panels that opens up to a view of a grass field with the surrounding greeneries and the local housing’s roof view. Another purpose of using a full-height glass window in our design is to let in more sunlight into the interior as well as to provide a good ventilation within the house in order to cool down the overall room’s temperature.
